What barrel should i buy for a tippmann 98, Sniper?
So ive got a tippmann 98 custom with ACT, i really want a new barrel but dont know which one to buy, i wanna be able to snipe, so at a long range, and be fairly accurate, ive heard about the flatline barrel but some people say it isnt very accurate, can anyone suggest which barrel to buy
I own a Tippmann 98 Custom, and I have the "old" flatline barrel. It works like a charm; shoots very straight, however at a distance it starts to curve upwards. the paintball curving upwards has never been a problem with me in actually playing, but i could see it being annoying if your shooting very, very far away. it does have humorous value though when showing to your friends, firing a round and watching it shoot skyward after flying straight for a ways.
don't know how the new one (flatline barrel) is, but i always recomend it to my friends whenever they are going to buy a new paintball gun.
the only other problem i had with mine was the plastic that came with it, it went on the top of the gun and broke easily, i don't believe the new one has that, but it's something to look out for.
A5/98 custom flatline adapter?
This is mostly because I'm curious....
conceivably, with the correct adapter you could put any Tippmann A5 barrel on the 98. There are flatline barrels made for A5 and 98. Aesthetically, i prefer the A5 flatline, but i own a 98 marker.
Will the A5 flatline barrel work properly on 98 if used w/ an adapter?
And has anyone tried this???
No, it will not work. The A5 Flatline incorporates the A5 barrel adapter molded into the rear endplate of the A5 Flatline. Therefore there is no actual A5 threading. Just the adapter. You could do the opposite through - attach the 98 Flatline Platinum Series onto the A5 with a 98-A5 barrel adapter. Look a little weird though.
But to answer your question, no... not possible. The new Platinum Series Flatline for the 98 is pretty awesome. Much smaller with a lot of rail space. You could really customize it to create a unique tactical look with any accessories like a bipod, front sight, front grip, flashlight... etc.... Hope this helps!
